At Gapka we are always looking to expand the breadth of our paint lines. Today we are excited to announce that we have added two new single pigment colors, Chromium Green Oxide (PG 17) and Yellow Oxide Transparent (PY 42), to our oil paint line.
Chromium Green Oxide (PG 17)
For a paint maker, Chromium Green Oxide is an absolute pleasure to work with as a pigment. A dense heavy pigment, it easily combines with linseed oil and mills to a smooth, yet stiff and tacky paint consistency. Its strong tinting strength contributes to its opacity and its ability to create deep, rich hues.
One of the most notable features of Yellow Oxide Transparent (PY 42) is its transparency. Although a deep rich brown when squeezed from the tube the warm, earthy yellow tone begins to show when mixed with more linseed oil or the medium of your choice. Because of the characteristics of the pigment, Yellow Oxide Transparent will appear more grainy than most oil colors. In order to provide the best consistency we mill our Yellow Oxide Transparent four times. As you can see from the videos below, during the first milling of Yellow Oxide Transparent (left) it barely looks like oil paint but with patience and three more passes through the mill you end up with a creamy (if still slightly grainy looking - a feature, not a flaw) oil paint that is a pleasure to work with.
We're always looking to add to our color line. Please let us know what colors you’d like to see next below.
